A Brief History

I've decided to begin this blog with a post about the history of the Philadelphia Phillies.  The team was originally known as the Quakers, and in 1883, they weren't as "phan-omenal" winning only 17 games out of 98 games in the series.  The Philadelphia team was beginning to be known as the "Phils."  After a terrible first several years, the team name changed and they were now the Phillies in 1890.

Years pass, the team fluctuates between mediocre and alright.  The only great importances I should mention is that they won the World Series in 1980, and also in 2008 which everyone can remember.
Appearing in the world series last year, but sadly falling a little short of victory.

This is only a fraction of everything the Phillies have became today.  Check out this timeline where I gathered this info!

I also found this video looking at jerseys from the very beginning.
